New Visa on arrival arrrangements Cairo airport

Visa on arrival update 01 August 2026

The Egyptian government has introduced a new pilot scheme for Visas on arrival currently applicable at Cairo international airport(only*).

Option 1

On arrival you can purchase a Visa QR code from one of the machines before immigration, for $36, payable only by credit card. The immigration officer would then scan this code on passing through passport control.

Option 2

You can purchase this in advance at https://visaonarrival.gov.eg but ONLY within 7 days before arrival. (outside of 7 days before the QR code would expire and you would have to pay again). The immigration officer would then scan this code on passing through passport control.

Option 3

Discover Egypt (Wings Tours) representative who waits for you on arrival can arrange the visa (QR code) in advance for a charge of £39, payable at any time in advance of travel, to Discover Egypt or your travel agent. On arrival, our representative meets you off the flight and hands you the QR code which you would then present to the Immigration officer.

*At Cairo Sphinx airport and other Egypt airports, you can still buy a Visa on arrival from a bank counter for $30 or in advance from Discover Egypt for £35, payable at any time in advance of travel, to Discover Egypt or your travel agent.
