Read What Our Customers Have To Say About Their Recent Trips To Egypt

Hi Mark,

Just had a great holiday in Egypt.

Everything perfect.

Viking Tour staff always there to assist.

Yasser (Faouad ?) who was the rep on Viking Princess is a diamond ! Very knowledgeable, with great empathy for the egyptian sellers but always there to advise (and protect) the guests.

I have visited Egypt three times now and experienced nearly a dozen guides, but Yasser was the best guide !

Discover Egypt and Viking Tours are brilliant, amazed at the dedication of all the staff (here and in Egypt).

Well done

Richard  (4 Jan 2012)

Myself, my husband Nick, my mother Isabel and my son Tim would like to say what a wonderful experience we had during our Nile cruise on the Royal Viking from 9 - 16 January 2012.  The Discover Egypt staff and all staff on board the cruise were very friendly and helpful with a great sense of humour.  We were impressed by the cleanliness of the cruise ship and the food was delicious.  Our Egyptologist and tour guide, Mohammed was excellent, very knowledgable explaining the history of this wonderful country and giving us advice on tipping , dealing with the vendors and how to get the best bargains!  He was also most kind and helpful towards my elderly mum who has mobility problems.  All in all a most memorable holiday and we look forward to returning to Egypt very soon.

My wife and I have recently returned from a Nile Cruise courtesy of your company which was from 12th to 19th December 2011.

We had an amazing holiday and your agents in Luxor were very good.

Although it was very much to our advantage, it was a pity that we were only two of four passengers on this wonderful boat. We had an excellent guide, Hassan, to ourselves for the whole trip!

There was no sign of any trouble during the time we were in 'Upper Egypt'. There seemed to be many cruise boats simply moored up and a distinct lack of tourists at all the amazing ancient sites which we visited. People should not be put off by suggestions that it is not safe: our experience was quite the contrary. At the present time and from the perspective of their economy, this part of Egypt certainly needs more tourists but if you want to take advantage of this quiet spell and see the most fantastic sites without crowds go as soon as possible.

Thank you very much.

We have recently returned from a holiday on the Viking Princess - 5th to 12th December.

I wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our trip.   The staff on the boat were wonderful and couldn't do enough for us, and the food was excellent.   It's amazing how much one can eat in a week!

Our guide, Aladdin, was so knowledgeable and helpful.   We shall always remember his phrase 'slowly and carefully'.   I hadn't realised what a great sense of humour the Egyptians have.   There was always great care for our safety everywhere.

The visits to the temples and tombs were mind-blowing, and I loved the trip to the Botanic Gardens on the felucca.   We were always entertained, but with times of quiet when we could just read a book.

I know that visitor numbers are down considerably, but I couldn't believe how lucky I was when I realised I was the only person in the temple at Abu Simbel.   A memorable experience.

Many thanks.

Viking Princess 07 November 2011

Would just like to say that we had a fantastic time whilst in Egypt,  the holiday exceeded our expectations in every way.

Our guide on the boat Hussein (Ramses Group) was very helpful & knowledgeable.

Our guides in Cairo, Menna & Mustafa were fantastic whilst they took us around the pyramids, sphinx & museum.  The Cairo by night tour was especially memorable!

To finish it off we had a lovely 4 nights in Luxor to relax & recharge the batteries.

I would recommend Discover Egypt/Viking Travel to anyone thinking of going to Egypt.

Thank you

Please feel free to post this on your site.

Thankyou so much Jenny

Royal Viking 19/09/2011

Beverly(Travel Counsellors) – On behalf of Kevan, Mary, Sandra & myself, I would just like to offer my thanks for the faultless arrangements you oversaw for our recent cruise on the Nile and hotel stay in Cairo Egypt.  I would have no hesitation in recommending fellow Brits to take a cruise on the Nile, particularly the MS Royal Viking, where the cleanliness and catering arrangements were first class.  The staff were both friendly and accommodating.  The local Agent “Discover Egypt” has some excellent Guides who spoke English fluently, whilst having a commanding knowledge of their local history.

Well done again!

Royal Viking 03/10/2011

Just a note of thanks from my wife and I regarding our recent holiday on the Nile on board the Royal Viking, and afterwards in Cairo

The boat was magnificent, and the staff couldn't have looked after us better. The food was great, and we especially enjoyed the traditional Egyptian lunch. The evening entertainments were good, though they don't go too well with the early morning starts on some days - but we managed!

Our Egyptologist, Amira, really made the trip for us, explaining the history of all the sites we went to see and really bringing Egypt's wonderful history to life for us. She was also very helpful when it came to dealing with the local traders, explaining how to haggle and what to expect to pay for the different souvenirs that we bought. Our suitcases came back much heavier than they went. She also gave a us some great insights into modern day Egypt and its culture. We miss her yellow umbrella and her shouts of "Horus" to call us into line.

Our stay in Cairo was just as well organised as the cruise, and we were once again looked after in "Royal" fashion,. Again our Egyptologist, Fatima, was excellent and helped us get the maximum enjoyment out of the sites and experiences of the city. The visit to the Cairo museum was the highlight of our holiday - we wish we could go back there tomorrow to see all the things we didn't have time for the first time round.

Thank you so much for your own help in booking this holiday. We see that you offer similar holidays to other Middle Eastern locations, so we will be back to visit you again in the future. We will also be recommending you to our fiends and relations. Please feel free to publish this as a review if you want to, and also please forward it to Viking Travel

Wonderful holiday!

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Egypt. One week cruising down the Nile (upgraded to Royal Viking, thanks for that). A second week staying at the El Luxor Hotel in Luxor.

So many highlights. Our trip across the desert to Abu Simbel, an amazing place, watching the sun rise over the sands on the way out, and the mirages on the way back. All the sites we've seen on television brought vividly to life by experts guides. The peace and quiet of sailing slowly down the Nile with all of daily life going on along the banks as it has done since the days of the Pharaoh's.

The contrast of the noise and bustle of Luxor. Our hotel balcony overlooked the Nile and the West Bank. The tombs were lit up at night and looked to be flickering in candlelight. Listening to the sounds of the city whilst gazing at the serene river.

The holiday was superbly organised without a single hitch. Discover Egypt and Viking representatives all did a brilliant job as did boat and hotel staff. All under a beautiful blue sunny sky. Bliss.

Thanks to everyone concerned.

A fantastic holiday!

My wife and I together with another couple have just returned from a wonderful week on the Nile aboard the Royal Viking. Sadly for the locals but good for us, the usual crowds were not there due to the Egyptian uprising in February. At no time during our holiday did we feel threatened in fact we would never have known there had been a problem apart from the lack of tourists.

The boat was spotless, there were gel dispensers at the entrance to every public room and in each cabin. The cabins were more than adequate with two very comfortable single beds and a well equipped ensuite bathroom with a very decent shower; in fact everything you would expect to find in a top class hotel bedroom.

The food was something else! How they managed to produce such high class cuisine in such a confined space (we were shown round the kitchen) was nothing short of amazing. The choice was excellent, always something for every pallet.

The tour guides were, as you would expect, experts in their field. They knew everything! It was impossible to take it all in but we were encouraged to do more research on our return home. There was almost too much information especially when you had to get up at 4am. to avoid the heat of the day!

Overall it was a fantastic holiday, we were wonderfully looked after and it is one of those holidays you have to do before you die!

Many thanks

Dear Sirs

I am writing at the request of my parents whom, together with myself, returned form Egypt on 10/3/11 following a 7 night Nile cruise aboard the Royal Viking and a 3 night stay at the Ramses Hilton, Cairo.

We travelled out on the 28/2/11, which I understand was the first trip carried out by yourselves following the recent events in Cairo.

We certainly made the right choice in continuing with our planned holiday as we had a wonderful time, both on the cruise and in Cairo.

The staff aboard the Royal Viking were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our whole stay and the boat and its facilities were first class and fully deserving of its 5 star status.  The food was always fresh, varied and delicious.

It appears, unfortunately, given the relatively small number of tourists who were at the various tourist sites, that many people are still not deciding to travel to Egypt - the one good thing is that this means that tourists who are currently visiting practically have the wonderful places like Valley of the Kings, Abu Simbel and the various Temples to themselves thus making this an ideal time to travel to Egypt.

The guides throughout our trip were not only very informative but were also friendly and clearly passionate about their work.  Our main guide, Usama, was fantastic and brought the history to life with his talks and we encountered the other guides on one or two of the trips - thanks to Aladdin (I still have my lucky Egyptian pound!); thanks to Victor for looking after my mum when she decided not to attempt the camel ride(!) and thanks to Yasser who was very entertaining on our trip to Abu Simbel.

Our female guide in Egypt was also very good and our driver, Mohammed was pleasant and professional throughout.  The local people in Cairo were especially grateful that people were starting to visit their fine city again.  We never felt any trepidation whilst there and the local people were very welcoming and friendly.  Our trips whilst there to the pyramids and the Egyptian museum were one of the highlights of our trip.  The staff at the Ramses Hilton made sure that our stay there was very comfortable.

I would whole-heartedly urge people to visit Egypt, my parents have described their trip as "a holiday of a lifetime"; and if people are visiting Egypt, I would certainly recommend that they travel with yourselves as we the service we received throughout our trip excelled our expectations.

Having viewed my photographs and having watched the DVD of our trip (purchased from staff onboard the Royal Viking), my friend is now insisting that we take another cruise later this year and I will certainly be booking with yourselves to take another trip aboard the Royal Viking.

We have just returned from a Nile Cruise on board The Viking Princess 28/2/11. I had my expectations before we left but the whole week was over and above my expectations. The boat, the cabins, food, service were all excellent. The desserts were unbelievable.

We were made to feel very welcome and were well looked after by all the staff. The excursion's were very well organised and informative and our guide Yassar was passionate about his information.

Every excursion was enjoyable and the extra ones Abu Simbel and the Sound and light show at Karnak were value for money. We met lovely people on board . The staff were there to please. We will definitely travel with Discover Egypt again they are to be recommended.

My wife and I have just returned from our holiday on the Nile, 28th Feb to 7th March, and just had to write and thank you for a wonderful holiday.

As we were one of the first to go after the recent problems,  with a little trepidation, any fear’s we might have had prior to departure were put at ease as soon as we boarded the Viking Princess, we were greeted, and treated like royalty, the crew, the waiters, and the chef’s were outstanding, our special thanks go to Victor, our guide for the week, who’s knowledge of ancient Egypt was extraordinary, the sights, all inclusive trips and service given by all, was more than expected for the price we paid, memories that will stay with us forever.

Well done.

Tony and Jean

We returned from our cruise on the 7th March and belatedly, I write to thank you for superb organisation and an exceptional guide (Osama).

We were glad that we decided not to cancel, as the poverty there had to be seen to be believed-our guide's opening words of thanks for our 'courage' was moving.

I have made a donation of £50. to the Brooke Animal Hospital and they spoke highly of your organisation.  We have given copies of your brochure to friends with the recommendation that they should travel with the experts, namely you.

Sincerely,

Jane Fox

Hello Discover Egypt

A week after our return from our Nile cruise I must write and thank you for a wonderful time.

We did wonder if we were doing 'the right thing' going to Egypt at this time. The professionalism and welcome of your company made it so worthwhile. A wonderful boat (Royal Viking) especially the towel sculptures!! Our guide Aladdin was worth his weight in all the gold in Egypt!! We will certainly not hesitate to recommend your company to all our freinds.

Once again thank you and may we wish Egypt all the best for their new future.

Dear Discover Egypt

We have just returned from 2 weeks in Egypt with your marvellous company and Royal Viking.

Going on the 2 week trip on 7th March we were a little nervous travelling but we need not have worried – everything was fantastic from start to finish.

The guides were fantastic – even the waiters on the the Royal Viking knew about the history, temples etc., – we had Aladdin as our guide – we were one of his “Pharaohs” and we felt like it. He was very informative and kept us going with facts, dates etc. but also with information on the life and times of the temples – gods – Egyptians – he was fantastic.

The boat was smashing – everything was done to a very high standard and very friendly and efficient. No one was sick, which was one of our worries before we left, but no, the level of hygiene and cleanliness was second to none.

We then went to Cairo and again that was great – service brilliant – driver was a miracle worker in all that traffic, all trips fantastic.

Then back to Nile Palace hotel in Luxor, and again that was fantastic. We would have loved to do more trips in Luxor, but forgot all about the museum etc., so more information would have been useful.

But what can we say,  We had the best holiday ever.........

Thank you for a trip of a lifetime.

Lee and Gayle
