  17 October 2023 The management of our travel arrangements “on the ground “was faultless. The organisation and implementation of our schedule was punctual and helpful. We particularly welcomed the assistance and assurance of M when dealing with the turmoil of Cairo airport. His understanding of that chaos was invaluable on the day we flew back to London. All your representatives/ colleagues in Egypt were extremely friendly and accommodating. The knowledge of the guides was invaluable as we grappled with the names / roles of the various gods, kings, and queens. In this context the contribution of Waleed needs to be highlighted, not only regarding the archaeology but also his overall guidance and attitude. His enthusiasm for the history added to our understanding. The members of the crew of the Sonesta Amirat were diligent and charming. Whilst the available space is cramped, we were amazed at the standard of the food we were served and the fun we had in our interactions with the crew (including some crazy “dancing “). We had a wonderful time and wish to place on record our appreciation of the help we had from you in England and your representatives in Egypt. Thanks to you all we were able to concentrate on the history and people of Egypt. And the tomb of Nefertari was truly outstanding- it was incredibly beautiful. Many thanks John – Suffolk.

• Dahabiya cruise and Cairo Feb 2020

  Thank you for your help in arranging our holiday. Your suggestions worked out very well. As you told us our guide (Fouad) met us airside of security and helped us obtain our visas. We then met Mustafa our driver and they both helped us with our luggage. The Le Meridien Hotel (your recommendation) was very good. Next morning we met “Tuna” our guide for the Pyramids etc. She was excellent, although we did have trouble hearing her at times due to background noise. We then transferred to our boat at Aswan and met LOAY AHMED who was to be our guide for the rest of the trip. He was so knowledgeable, enthusiastic and attentive throughout we couldn’t have had anyone better. Our cabin was comfortable with an excellent shower etc. The food on board was very good with plenty of choice. I came home 2 kilos heavier. There were another 6 guests on board and we all got on very well . Dress was informal and relaxed and the ladies did not get the chance to put on the smart frocks! We were (Including the guides) caught out by a cold north wind. We ended using our bath robes to keep warm when dining at night. It all added to the fun. I can not praise the crew enough. My wife has a problem with a leg and the crew competed to be the ones to help her when leaving and joining the boat. The stewards were very attentive and looked after us very well. The 14th. February was our golden wedding anniversary. Our cake was brought up onto deck by the crew singing and dancing. It was the most lovely time and I am not afraid to say, brought tears to my eyes. It truly made it a most enjoyable occasion. Thank you for arranging the cake. It was made on the boat and was beautiful. On the 15th, we left our boat for the last time and were ferried over in a small boat to the far side of the river. As I hope you can tell, we really enjoyed our holiday. David …………. A short extra note from Sandra. The entire holiday exceeded expectations and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend your company to anyone wanting a similar trip. All involved were extremely professional, but also approachable.It was so good to have such a happy crew. The cake, singing, clapping, music for our 50th was a big surprise and much appreciated – thank you for organising that. Sandra

• Dahabiya cruise Feb 2020

  Our guide Loay Ahmed was amazing, very knowledgeable could not do enough for us and we had a lot of laughs with him. The Dahabiya and cruise was great, all I expected and more. The Dahabiya cabin was very comfortable with a nice on suite. There was a little lounge you could use below deck. However we did not a German couple had drinks in it most nights the other four passengers like us tended to stay up on deck chatting and watching the world go by. On deck where we spent most of our time when on board had sun loungers comfortable chairs and a hot tub. We ate all our meals on deck great food breakfast was cereal, fruit salad, omelettes, boiled eggs and lots more. Lunch was buffet style with four courses, dinner again four course but set meal. Food was amazing. The crew without exception were very friendly and again could not do enough for you, I and another passenger even had a go at the helm a few times. The whole trip was very relaxed and peaceful even the excursions. Our guides worked with us if we wanted to change something or add something. We usually set of at about 9am for the trips and found we missed the big crowd's which started to appear as we were leaving. No trip was rushed we were able to take our time and after he had explained and shown everything we had free time to go around by ourselves if we wished.

• Dahabiya Nile Cruise & Cairo - 10 Nights Feb 2019

  Feb 2019 - After planning and anticipating this trip for over 6 months, we spent 10 days in Egypt in February and our holiday surpassed all our expectations. We were a group of five, with three of the group traveling from the USA and the other two traveling from Ireland. We booked with Discover Egypt because they offered the combination package of Cairo and a Nile Cruise on a Dahabiya. Discover Egypt worked tirelessly on the planning and the logistics and making sure that we were able to squeeze in every sight we wanted to see along the way. We were met in the airport, helped through the visa controls and then escorted to a welcome van. We were even helped through the check in process at our hotel, the Marriott Mena House. The Mena House was lovely and tranquil, with an amazing view of the Giza Pyramids. I want to go back to Egypt just to stay there again. Each morning in Cairo we were met promptly by our driver with the van and our guide. Raham, who was so much more for us than a tour guide - mostly guide, but also group photographer, shopping director and culture interpreter - was fabulous. Our transportation to the Cairo Airport for our flight to Aswan, was also seamless, and we were met at the Aswan Airport without incident. A Dahabiya is a small boat. Ours, the Sonesta Amarit, had a total of five regular cabins and two suites. Our group, along with another couple who had booked with Discover Egypt, had our own guide along for the cruise. Assem, just as our guide in Cairo had been, was excellent. He was very accommodating for our group, and unselfishly shared the history and his love for his country with us. He went out of his way, at every turn, to ensure that we were enjoying our holiday. Our experience with Discover Egypt was, from start to finish, simply amazing. • Cairo and cruise December 2023

  We have just returned (08 January2024)from the 10 day classic Egypt trip and would like to say it was a fantastic holiday. Both guides in Cairo and on the Nile were excellent . Egypt exceeded all our expectations and will definitely recommend the holiday. It was really helpful to have Issac to meet us at the airport with the visas who helped us through passport control. Would recommend paying the extra for the visas to be there on arrival. Quality of the accommodation at the Ramses Hilton was excellent bar prices and meals were reasonable by UK standards. The trips to Pyramids and Egyptian Museum were very special. The boat was excellent and staff very friendly and helpful. It was well worth getting up early to see the sights especially doing the road trip to Abel Simbel. Through out the trip felt safe . Thank you Philip for your help and advice with the holiday .

  We are now safely returned from our 2 week adventure in Egypt which was truly amazing! We are so grateful for the excellent trip you so skilfully put together at rather short notice for us. Every detail was superbly organised from Visas and transport to the airport to the 6 flights and all transfers and hotel bookings. Everything went so smoothly and we learnt so much from the excellent Egyptology Guides who supported us so well around pyramids, temples , tombs and museums. We even tried a camel ride and watched belly dancing and many Egyptian traditional events. • Cairo and MS Tulip cruise March 2023

  We used Discover Egypt; very professional they organised two cabins for us as I snore loudly! Sorting out a Visa is very easy, just google Egypt Visa and check that it’s the official eVisa Egyptian government website. Follow the instructions and fill in the form making sure you copy exactly the details in your passport, any mistake will result in a NO, and cost you your fee. You will get PDF versions of your Visa emailed to you. When you arrive at Cairo airport just join the queue. Transfer to the hotel was fun and smooth, again great support from the staff on the ground, despite it being late at night. The organisation in Egypt from start to finish was exceptional, the Steigenberger Hotel with view of the Pyramids was delightful, food was great. We organised a couple of private tours before we left the UK as our son has ADHD and needed something small. Transfer to Luxor went smoothly, again very well organised, and soon we were on our boat M/S Tulip. Brilliant staff, friendly and attentive, the boat was clean, comfortable, and not too big which was very nice. All I can say about the tours and guide were exceptional. Ahmad Mozamel was the best guide we have ever had, not only was he an expert Egyptologist, but the way also he explained the history and took us to important locations within temples to show different aspects of the Pharaoh, Roman and Greek influences was exceptional. During the 7 days he let slip that he worked for Dr Zahi Hawass (the top main in Egypt) and frequently took part in archaeological exploration and digs, and had a Masters in Egyptology, he was a passionate professional. Food on board was excellent, lots of choice, well prepared and very tasty. There is enough to suit all tastes unless you are impossibly fussy!! Entertainment was fun and typical of a Nile Cruise with Egyptian night, Belly Dancing, local musicians etc. Quality and quantity of drink available was great and sensibly priced. There is a coffee machine on Deck 3 towards the front of the boat past the fitness room if you needed a quick fix at any time. The whole holiday was just brilliant, our son loved it and we will be going back to Egypt again soon. Elaine, Julian and Justin

• Nile cruise March 2023

  My mother and I had booked this trip back before covid. Unfortunately we were unable to go until 26 feb -6th March 2023. I would just like to say how special this trip meant to us both. My mother is 82 but a young 82. I was a little concerned incase it was a bit fast past or to much. But I needed not to worry, as the trips are so well organised. You are looked after from start to finish on every trip by the wonderful staff on the boats and our assigned Egyptologist guide Mohamed Foad, who was superb. The knowledge he knew was incredible and his attention to detail was excellent. He showed attention to all in our group, and answered every question that was asked of him with a great understanding of history and enthusiasm. This made the trip for us extra special.   Evening Philip, just a word of thanks for the amazing standard of organisation & service on last week’s visit As always, everything in Egypt ran like clockwork, I was so well looked after by the Wings staff With the single exception of the very hard bed, Legacy is a delight. I did get my cabin kettle as you promised. Le Meridien at Cairo International is a really lovely hotel, wish I'd had more time to enjoy it and good to know about it for breaking an indirect flight, thank you for the recommendation.
