17 October 2023 The management of our travel arrangements “on the ground “was faultless. The organisation and implementation of our schedule was punctual and helpful. We particularly welcomed the assistance and assurance of M when dealing with the turmoil of Cairo airport. His understanding of that chaos was invaluable on the day we flew back to London. All your representatives/ colleagues in Egypt were extremely friendly and accommodating. The knowledge of the guides was invaluable as we grappled with the names / roles of the various gods, kings, and queens. In this context the contribution of Waleed needs to be highlighted, not only regarding the archaeology but also his overall guidance and attitude. His enthusiasm for the history added to our understanding. The members of the crew of the Sonesta Amirat were diligent and charming. Whilst the available space is cramped, we were amazed at the standard of the food we were served and the fun we had in our interactions with the crew (including some crazy “dancing “). We had a wonderful time and wish to place on record our appreciation of the help we had from you in England and your representatives in Egypt. Thanks to you all we were able to concentrate on the history and people of Egypt. And the tomb of Nefertari was truly outstanding- it was incredibly beautiful. Many thanks John – Suffolk.
Thank you for your help in arranging our holiday. Your suggestions worked out very well. As you told us our guide (Fouad) met us airside of security and helped us obtain our visas. We then met Mustafa our driver and they both helped us with our luggage. The Le Meridien Hotel (your recommendation) was very good. Next morning we met “Tuna” our guide for the Pyramids etc. She was excellent, although we did have trouble hearing her at times due to background noise. We then transferred to our boat at Aswan and met LOAY AHMED who was to be our guide for the rest of the trip. He was so knowledgeable, enthusiastic and attentive throughout we couldn’t have had anyone better. Our cabin was comfortable with an excellent shower etc. The food on board was very good with plenty of choice. I came home 2 kilos heavier. There were another 6 guests on board and we all got on very well . Dress was informal and relaxed and the ladies did not get the chance to put on the smart frocks! We were (Including the guides) caught out by a cold north wind. We ended using our bath robes to keep warm when dining at night. It all added to the fun. I can not praise the crew enough. My wife has a problem with a leg and the crew competed to be the ones to help her when leaving and joining the boat. The stewards were very attentive and looked after us very well. The 14th. February was our golden wedding anniversary. Our cake was brought up onto deck by the crew singing and dancing. It was the most lovely time and I am not afraid to say, brought tears to my eyes. It truly made it a most enjoyable occasion. Thank you for arranging the cake. It was made on the boat and was beautiful. On the 15th, we left our boat for the last time and were ferried over in a small boat to the far side of the river. As I hope you can tell, we really enjoyed our holiday. David …………. All involved were extremely professional, but also approachable.It was so good to have such a happy crew. Our guide Loay Ahmed was amazing, very knowledgeable could not do enough for us and we had a lot of laughs with him. The Dahabiya and cruise was great, all I expected and more. The Dahabiya cabin was very comfortable with a nice on suite. There was a little lounge you could use below deck. However we did not a German couple had drinks in it most nights the other four passengers like us tended to stay up on deck chatting and watching the world go by. On deck where we spent most of our time when on board had sun loungers comfortable chairs and a hot tub. We ate all our meals on deck great food breakfast was cereal, fruit salad, omelettes, boiled eggs and lots more. Lunch was buffet style with four courses, dinner again four course but set meal. Food was amazing. The crew without exception were very friendly and again could not do enough for you, I and another passenger even had a go at the helm a few times. The whole trip was very relaxed and peaceful even the excursions. Our guides worked with us if we wanted to change something or add something. We usually set of at about 9am for the trips and found we missed the big crowd's which started to appear as we were leaving. No trip was rushed we were able to take our time and after he had explained and shown everything we had free time to go around by ourselves if we wished.
Feb 2019 - After planning and anticipating this trip for over 6 months, we spent 10 days in Egypt in February and our holiday surpassed all our expectations. We were a group of five, with three of the group traveling from the USA and the other two traveling from Ireland. We booked with Discover Egypt because they offered the combination package of Cairo and a Nile Cruise on a Dahabiya. Discover Egypt worked tirelessly on the planning and the logistics and making sure that we were able to squeeze in every sight we wanted to see along the way. We were met in the airport, helped through the visa controls and then escorted to a welcome van. We were even helped through the check in process at our hotel, the Marriott Mena House. The Mena House was lovely and tranquil, with an amazing view of the Giza Pyramids. I want to go back to Egypt just to stay there again. Each morning in Cairo we were met promptly by our driver with the van and our guide. Raham, who was so much more for us than a tour guide - mostly guide, but also group photographer, shopping director and culture interpreter - was fabulous. Our transportation to the Cairo Airport for our flight to Aswan, was also seamless, and we were met at the Aswan Airport without incident. A Dahabiya is a small boat. Ours, the Sonesta Amarit, had a total of five regular cabins and two suites. Our group, along with another couple who had booked with Discover Egypt, had our own guide along for the cruise. Assem, just as our guide in Cairo had been, was excellent. He was very accommodating for our group, and unselfishly shared the history and his love for his country with us. He went out of his way, at every turn, to ensure that we were enjoying our holiday. Our experience with Discover Egypt was, from start to finish, simply amazing. We returned yesterday(30 October) after a 10-day holiday with great friends of ours (Jim & Marianne). We spent 3 nights in Cairo and then 7 nights on a Nile Cruise from Luxor. Your representative and your guide (Sam & Karim) were first class in Cairo. Karim was very knowledgeable and engaging and Sam ensured the logistics of the excursions ran smoothly, which they did. Achmed (our driver) was fantastic too and did an amazing job navigating the 'challenges' the Cairo roads seem too always present. We then flew to Luxor for the next part of our holiday, our 7-night Nile Cruise. We were met at the airport by your representative Michael. He was there as we arrived to welcome us and then take us swiftly to our transportation. Whilst travelling to the boat, Michael said he would be our tour guide during our Nile Cruise, discussed the itinerary for the next day and said he wanted to ensure we had the best experience possible and that he was always available for us, he then gave us his mobile number. We arrived at the Sonesta Sun Goddess at around 10:30pm and were greeted with a wonderful welcome from the boat staff. We were guided to the restaurant whilst our luggage was taken to our suites. Despite the late arrival time and the four of us being the only guests, we were given a lovely welcome by the restaurant waiters. We then enjoyed a beautiful four course meal. We did not feel rushed, and the restaurant team were very friendly and attentive. The cruise on the Sun Goddess was just sensational. The food was first class, the service exemplary from all boat staff and the friendliness and kindness of all staff was humbling. To name just a few, Mena and the team in the restaurant looked after us so well, Shenan on the roof terrace and lobby bar gave us first class service throughout and wanted to ensure we were always happy - he even offered Jo and I honey sachets for energy as we were running (5K) around the roof running 'track'. Mohammed kept our rooms spotless daily and fully stocked with fresh towels and toiletries. Everyday Mohammed would proudly ask us to look in our room at the wonderful towel sculpture he had left on our bed. However, all the above was 'trumped' by your tour guide Michael, who was with us throughout our stay on the Sun Goddess. Michael is a lovely guy and very knowledgeable, he is a great reflection of your company. Michael went out of his way to accommodate everyone in our group, and nothing was too much trouble for him. One family in our group had their 11-year-old daughter with them. Michael ensured that the trips were fun and engaging for her too. We are not ones to write reviews following our holidays. However, because of the exceptional service and friendship Michael showed us, we felt compelled to contact you directly. We cannot speak highly enough of Discover Egypt and Michael. We will be telling all our friends about our amazing holiday and will be booking a trip again with Discover Egypt and we very much look forward to meeting up with Michael again on the Sun Goddess. Please convey our heartfelt appreciation to Michael and the crew of the Sun Goddess. They made our holiday to Egypt unforgettable and very special.
September 2023. May I first say that I have just returned from the 13-day ultimate Egypt tour and would like to say how impressed I was by the whole booking progress and with Philip for answering my many questions via emails, which seeded to be almost every week. I would also like to say how amazing the whole experience was and how the tour operator met us before customs in Cairo which helped to speed up the process. I would also like to say how grateful I am that the guide on the cruise who was Ahmed Mounir and the staff on the MS Tulip who provided me with a birthday cake on my birthday. I had been to Egypt before but this time I learnt different information from Ahmed. The tour operator in Cairo and guide I would like to thank their names are Muhammad (Sadiq) The operator and Abeer the guide. I would also like to thank Hussain who was the operator in Luxor who checked me in to my flight from Luxor back to Cairo and Cairo to London he also checked my luggage in to go straight from Luxor to London without having to go through baggage reclaim and drop off again in Cairo. We are now safely returned from our 2 week adventure in Egypt which was truly amazing! We are so grateful for the excellent trip you so skilfully put together at rather short notice for us. Every detail was superbly organised from Visas and transport to the airport to the 6 flights and all transfers and hotel bookings. Everything went so smoothly and we learnt so much from the excellent Egyptology Guides who supported us so well around pyramids, temples , tombs and museums. We even tried a camel ride and watched belly dancing and many Egyptian traditional events. Discover Egypt Classic Egypt 10 Nights April/May 2023 Hotel Ramses Hilton Cairo This is a large busy modern hotel set in the city centre. It is an ideal location for sightseeing in Cairo and Giza. It has many restaurants with varied menu choices. We found the breakfast buffet and evening buffet the best option. The public areas were clean and tidy and the reception area always busy. Our room was spacious clean and comfortable. All the staff that we spoke to we friendly and helpful. Our stay was short but very enjoyable. We booked both optional tours the first to the Great Pyramids with our wonderful guide Saad Zaki who was both interesting and informative. The second days tour took us to the Egyptian Museum and the beautiful Citadel again accompanied by our guide Saad who would ensure that our trip was both fun and flexible to suit our needs. 10/10 MS Tulip The Nile After a short hassle free flight, we boarded this elegant vessel at Luxor. Our cabin on the second deck was clean comfortable and surprisingly spacious. Our next 7 days were full on visiting some of the ancient world’s treasures. This time accompanied by our friendly informative and humorous guide Mostafa. The facilities on board were of a high standard our only comment would be that the buffet food could be a little hotter, it was tasty though. This is a comment only not a criticism. We took the long and exhausting trip to Abu Simbel which was magnificent even for me a partially sighted traveller We all had a magnificent trip and if you get a chance please go with Discover Egypt and their local guides at Wings Travel. 10/10 Stephen and Nicola.
My mother and I had booked this trip back before covid. Unfortunately we were unable to go until 26 feb -6th March 2023. I would just like to say how special this trip meant to us both. My mother is 82 but a young 82. I was a little concerned incase it was a bit fast past or to much. But I needed not to worry, as the trips are so well organised. You are looked after from start to finish on every trip by the wonderful staff on the boats and our assigned Egyptologist guide Mohamed Foad, who was superb. The knowledge he knew was incredible and his attention to detail was excellent. He showed attention to all in our group, and answered every question that was asked of him with a great understanding of history and enthusiasm. This made the trip for us extra special. All the arrangements ran smoothly, the boat was really lovely, as were all the staff on board. Our fellow passengers were interesting companions whose company we much enjoyed. We would like to stress in particular the amazing guide we had whilst on board the MS Tulip, he was so thoughtful, well informed and considerate. A trained archaeologist his specialist knowledge was really excellent as was his organisation of excursions. He took time out to guide us through local souks and spice stores. His name is Mohamed Fouad - we cannot recommend him highly enough, perhaps you might be able to let Discover Egypt know how much we appreciated his attention and thoughtfulness. Cairo was a real contrast to the Nile especially the traffic! Again, we had a lovely guide, Nivene. She escorted us to the! monuments and museum and found lovely typical places for our lunch. My partner, and I were lucky enough to go on one of your Nile Cruises from 10th to 20th February made through Miles Morgan in Nailsworth. We were accompanied throughout the tour by Mr Mohamed Fouad from Luxor Tours and he was so exceptionally good that we want to write, on behalf of our group, to commend his services. Our group of eight English tourists witnessed a whole host of guides at the many sites we visited and saw how they shouted and scrambled in quite physical scrums at times as various vendors wanted to take us in boats, horse drawn carriages or other minibuses. On the other hand Mr Fouad was calm, firm and polite, and our transport was always in the right place at the right time. Mr Fouad was a gentle, gentleman who had extensive knowledge of history, geography and politics and the story of the region was his passion, yet he briefed us in a simple and interesting way without being pompous or condescending. In short he was outstanding and he made the holiday for us all. We will never forget him. It would be wonderful if you could find a way to convey to Mr Fouad what a difference, he made to our Nile experience and how much we appreciated his professionalism, humour, and organisational skills. He has a great way of engaging with us and bringing ancient Egypt to light We enjoyed our conversations with him and he made us feel very much at ease. April 2022 Brilliant holiday. 100% recommend. We had a great time. Discover Egypt went out of their way to help us tailor our break (with hotels in Cairo and Luxor before boarding Ms Tulip). The crew were helpful, friendly, polite, always with a smile. The food was usually excellent with lots of choice of mains, fruit, salads, breads, and great soups made fresh daily. Luxor and Aswan are wonderful, but Cairo won’t take long once you’ve seen the Pyramids, and the Museum downtown. Mad lanes of traffic (we counted twelve lanes of busy traffic at one point) but it was all an experience never to forget. To sum up… brilliant.” David
April 2022 We have returned from our holiday with, again, nothing but praise for your company. The team in Egypt were second to none in their attention to detail, reliability, and expertise, especially considering that one of the people in our party’s luggage was missing for 4 days and it took a lot of work to track it down. So a special thank you must go to Imm who was our Cairo representative. The Egyptologists we had were exceptional, especially Ahmed (just call me habibi) who was the guide on our Cairo private tour, and Rabie our guide on the Nile Cruise. Both were so informative and such fun to be with. The MS Tulip staff without exception were a pleasure to meet, professional, attentive but friendly throughout which made our stay on the boat such an enjoyable week. Steigenberger Pyramids and MS Tulip February 2022 Just got back from our 10-day trip to Cairo (3 nights) followed by 7 nights on MS Tulip. What a fantastic trip full of superlatives. Particularly high points include: Amazing guides (Amhad Badawy in Cairo and Ahmad Al Mozamel on Tulip) who combined huge enthusiasm/positivity, vast knowledge with an ability to convey it in remarkable English, and an unstinting dedication to providing a 1st class client experience Very attentive customer service by the Wings reps who met us at the airport and organised transfers etc removing hassle and worry - especially valuable given my mother-in-law (Octogenarian) was with us. Fabulous overall standard of service from every member of staff, great accommodation, facilities and food on MS Tulip.
