Itinerary

  • Day 1 Cairo: Depart UK direct to Cairo. You will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel for a 3 night stay)Bed and breakfast).

  • Day 2 Full day Pyramids, Sphinx & Sakkara: Full Day Pyramids, Sphinx, & Sakkara See the great Pyramids of Giza – Cheops (Khufu), Chephren and Mykerinos. Enter inside one of the Pyramids (subject to opening and extra cost approx. LE 300) Then visit the Valley Temple - the place where the priests mummified the dead body of King Chephren, owner of the second pyramid at Giza Plateau. Take a close look at the Sphinx - the legendary guardian that stands by the huge funeral complex with its lion body and the head of King Chephren. It may be possible to take a short camel on the plateau (pay locally). After lunch continue to Sakkara, home to Zhoser’s step pyramid. The step pyramid was constructed by Imhotep, the pharaoh’s chief architect in 2700 BC, and was the template for all future pyramid construction, including the Great Pyramids of Giza. Three major discoveries have recently been made at Sakkara, including a prime minister's tomb, a queen's pyramid, and the tomb of the son of a dynasty founding king. Learn about the unusual layout of the pyramid of Userkaf, enter inside the pyramid of Teti and afterwards visit the small Imhotep Museum and see the site’s artefacts. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 3 Full day Egyptian Museum and Citadel: The museum displays a rare collection of 5000 years of art which is considered the largest most precious collection of Egyptian art in the world. Over 250,000 overwhelming artefacts are presented, including an exhibit dedicated to Tutankhamen collection of treasure, gold and jewellery which was enclosed in his tomb for over 3,500 years before it was discovered in the 1920s when his tomb was excavated. After lunch, continue to the Citadel of Saladin (12th century) first where you will visit the famous alabaster mosque of Mohamed Aly Pasha (19th century) representing the Ottoman style of architecture. Afterwards, spend a short time wandering the bustling streets of Khan Al Khalili market. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 4 Flight to Luxor and embarkation: Morning at leisure. Afternoon flight to Luxor. You will be met upon arrival and transferred to your chosen cruise boat. Moored in Luxor, the friendly crew will welcome you aboard, ensuring you settle into your cabin and familiarise yourself with the boat before dinner and overnight moored in Luxor.

  • Day 5 Valley of the Kings: Today cross over to the West Bank of the Nile for the first excursion, The Valley of the Kings. From here visit the impressive Temple of Hatshepsut. Afterwards there is a visit to the enormous statues of the Colossi of Memnon. Lunch is served back on board the boat. Set sail upstream to Esna and pass through the Lock. Dinner and overnight moored in Esna.

  • Day 6 Edfu & Kom Ombo : Early morning visit to the Temple of Horus at Edfu. The cruise continues upstream to Kom Ombo where there is a late afternoon visit to the Ptolemic Temple dedicated to the gods Haroeris and Sobek. Afterwards still sailing upstream the boat will arrive in Aswan where you will remain for two nights.

  • Day 7 Aswan: Today is spent exploring the delights of Aswan. Sightseeing includes a visit to the High Dam, the Old Granite Quarries, the Unfinished Obelisk and then by boat to the Temple of Philae on Agilika Island. After lunch board a Felucca, a traditional Egyptian sailing boat for your included cruise down the Nile and around the picturesque Kitchener Island before returning for dinner.

  • Day 8 Abu Simbel: The morning can spent at leisure to roam Aswan some more or alternatively join the optional excursion to Abu Simbel to see the four colossal statues of Ramses II which for many will be the highlight of the cruise. This popular excursion is available by coach (approx £92) or by air (approx £345). In the afternoon an optional bird watching excursion and a visit to a Nubian house can be arranged.

  • Day 9 Nile River: Today we enjoy a quieter day sailing downstream along the Nile before arriving late evening in Esna. During this pleasant journey you can choose to take a dip in the pool, catch up on some reading or simply enjoy the view. Overnight on board in Esna.

  • Day 10 Luxor Temples: Sailing from Esna to Luxor arriving at lunch time. In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Karnak - an enormous complex of three temples dedicated to the Theban Gods. Afterwards explore the magnificent Temple of Luxor which was once connected to the Karnak Temple by an avenue of sphinxes.In the evening there is an optional excursion to the exhilarating Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temple which can be booked locally.

  • Day 11 Amman: Fly from Luxor to Amman. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your Amman hotel for overnight stay.

  • Day 12 Jerash/Madaba/Nebo: Morning visit to Jerash, an example of the provincial Roman urbanism that is found throughout the Middle East, comprising paved and colonnaded streets, soaring hilltop temples, handsome theatres, spacious public squares and plazas, baths, fountains and city walls pierced by towers and gates. Continue to visit Saint George Church and the Madaba Mosaic Map which covers the floor of this Greek Orthodox Church. Afterwards visit Mount. Nebo, where Moses is said to have stood and overlooked the Holy Land and where he was subsequently buried. From here, proceed down the Kings Highway to Petra for overnight.

  • Day 13 Petra: Full day exploring Petra known as the Rose Red City. The day will include visits to the dramatic Treasury, Petra's most famous monument plus the Street of Facades, the Court House and the Amphitheatre. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 14 Little Petra and Wadi Rum: After breakfast,make a short visit to Little Petra,otherwise known as Siq Al-Barid. A classical temple stands guard outside the miniature siq which was the commercial quarter for Petra and situated at the point where several ancient caravan routes met, linking Wadi Araba with Egypt and the Mediterranean coast. Water channels were carved through the rock to collect rain water to the bottom of the mountain, today known as harvesting. Afterwards continue to Wadi Rum, the largest and most magnificent of Jordan's desert landscapes. Experience this vast wilderness aboard 4x4 vehicles driven by local Bedouins. The trip is around 2 hours before heading to the Dead Sea for a stay of 2 nights.

  • Day 15 Dead Sea: The Dead Sea lies in the Jordan Valley at the lowest point on earth. Spend your time sunbathing, swimming or treat yourself to some of the many spa treatments on offer especially the well-known healing powers of the minerals from the sea bed. Overnight Dead Sea.
